Two ways to
Get to Bellona Island
By Sea (Boat)
A trip to Bellona on a boat is not recommended to
foreigners who want to visit Bellona Island. The sea between
Bellona and Guadalcanal Islands is extremely dangerous,
especially during hurricane season (toward the end of the
year).
It takes 18 to 24 hours to reach Bellona Island by
boat from the capital of Solomon Islands, Honiara. The MV
Renbel's office is located on the second floor of the NPF
Plaza, downtown Point Cruz.
By Air (Twin Otter: Solomon
Airline)
The
recommended and fastest way to reach Bellona Island is by
Plane. The Solomon Islands Airline's Twin Otter flies to
Bellona Island twice a week (Sunday and Thursday).
The
flight usually takes 40 minutes or less to reach Bellona
Island, but it may be longer if the weather is
bad.
The
Solomon Islands airline office is located in downtown Point
Cruz and its open on weekdays. The fare to Bellona is $900+
SBD ($1800 round-trip). You can also visit the
airline's
website .
